About
PEACE OF THE ACTION is a 501c3 non-profit activist organization established with the goal of promoting the actionable awareness of, and the practical solutions for, a wide range of global challenges. We promote the use of Civil Resistance, Civil Disobedience and Non-Violent Direct Action. Although our primary focus is Pro-Peace/Anti-War we subscribe to four areas of campaigning:
PRO-PEACE/ANTI-WAR
The promotion of Peace throughout the world is the endeavor of a rational society. As long as the conjoined relationship of the Military Industrial Complex with the U.S.?Government continues to exist we will have no Peace. We will struggle to end the general practice of, and preparedness for, war by exposing: propaganda, imperialism, hostility, hegemony, lies and war-for-profit.
SOCIAL JUSTICE/HUMAN RIGHTS
To promote fair distribution of advantages, assets, and benefits among all members of society. Every human being has the right to healthy food, affordable housing, quality education and full medical care. The rights to be free from racism and discrimination should be elemental. Our challenge to any and all forms of torture and oppression is unwavering.
ANTI-EMPIRE/ANTI-CORPORATISM
To engage in the ongoing struggle to expose and deter the immoral and inherently greedy pursuit of wealth, status and power by large corporations (and the banking industry) that continually stand in stark contrast to the overall public good and well-being. Large corporations (and the banking industry) should have no positions of political influence and/or no financing of political agendas. “People Before Profits” is the greatest and only viable methodology.
RENEWABLE ENERGY/ENVIRONMENTALISM
To promote a global transition from fossil fuels to massive initiatives of renewable energy while holding accountable those that continue to destroy the ecology of Earth.
OUR NAME AND OUR LOGO
The name Peace of the Action is a play on words derived from two aspects: (1) that Peace, when extrapolated into all possible forms, is the fundamental solution for assisting with the problems of our current and future society, and (2) that the people need to take a constant and forthright stance in demanding a voice in, and partaking in, the policies and practices of all governments, corporations and institutions.
Our motto is taken from an heroic and inspiring speech given by political activist Mario Savio on the UC Berkeley Campus on Dec. 2, 1964:
“There’s a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious—makes you so sick at heart—that you can’t take part. You can’t even passively take part. And you’ve got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you’ve got to make it stop. And you’ve got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it that unless you’re free, the machine will be prevented from working at all.”
Therefore, when all combined, the logo of our organization is a Dove, the symbol of Peace, putting its body on the gear(s).
